Hi there. Sometimes it is needed to generate UUID number. It is unique number and it could be useful in many cases.
There is uuid-runtime package which contains uuidgen utility. Install it:
apt-get install uuid-runtime
After that you can generate uuid. There are only two options of uuidgen utility:
Generate a random-based UUID. This method creates a UUID consisting mostly of random bits. It requires that the operating system have a high quality random number generator, such as /dev/random.
Generate a time-based UUID. This method creates a UUID based on the system clock plus the system's ethernet hardware address, if present.
So, commands for generating uuid could be next:
uuidgen -r e43e588d-cf6f-49b2-a16a-e6c4a0fa9b83
uuidgen -t ccf5dfd8-5de2-11e3-a0b9-080027528820
