lzop is a free software file compression tool which uses LZO(Lempel–Ziv–Oberhumer is a lossless data compression algorithm that is focused on decompression speed). lzop produces files a bit larger than gzip's but with less than a tenth of the CPU use. On many benchmark sites lzop is one of the fastest compressors available. Use this command for compress data:
lzop -9 -o output_file.lz backup_file
-9 is compress level. It could be from 1 to 9. --best is same with 9.
-o output file
first arg is output file name and second what we need to compress.
